The bestiary

Know your enemy.

Every creature in Debt Boss is a hand-sculpted 3D mini on a glowing base. The glow tells you the kind of debt. From Sentinel level 2, any creature you've unlocked can stand for any debt; only the look changes, never the math.

The starting six

One for each kind of debt.

The Goblin, idle
Credit card

Goblin

A hooded pickpocket with a curved dagger and a fat coin pouch. Credit cards usually carry the highest rates, so the Goblin is often the monster that heals fastest.

The Harpy, idle
Student loan

Harpy

A feathered bird-woman with her wings spread wide. Student loans tend to be large and long, so she circles for years unless you keep the pressure on.

The Golem, idle
Auto loan

Golem

A rune-carved stone golem with molten cracks and a fist made for slamming. Car loans are big but steady, and they fall one block at a time.

The Dire Wolf, idle
Mortgage

Dire Wolf

A shaggy wolf in a spiked iron collar, its chain already broken. The biggest debt on most fields, and the one that rewards patience.

The Orb, idle
Personal loan

Orb

A cracked arcane crystal with coins in orbit. No face, no mercy, and a fixed payoff date if you keep feeding it payments.

The Skeleton, idle
Medical debt

Skeleton

A horned helm, a sword and a round shield. Medical bills often carry little or no interest, which makes the Skeleton slow to heal and good to plan around.

Earned creatures

Rewards you can put on the field.

These don't come with a debt. You earn them, then pick which debt they stand for.

The Mimic, idle
Any debt, earned

Mimic

A treasure chest that bites back, perfect for hidden fees and "rewards" cards. Unlocked by a 7-day best streak, so breaking a streak later never takes it away.

The Gilded Slime, idle
Any debt, earned

Gilded Slime

A crowned jelly that swallows coins whole. Bought with 400 Valor in the Valor Shop.

The Treasury's pests

Leak Gremlins

Set a weekly cap on a spending category and a gremlin moves in. Go over the cap and it grows and glows red. The weekly raid report shows how each gremlin did, and banishes the ones you beat.

Feast Gremlin

Takeout

Clutches a steaming roast drumstick.

Loot Gremlin

Shopping

Drags a bulging loot sack, coins spilling out.

Brew Gremlin

Coffee

Guards a mug of glowing steam.

Revel Gremlin

Fun

Waves a foaming tankard and a fistful of sparkles.

Overhead

Subscription Bats

Mark a monthly bill as a subscription and it flies over the battlefield as a chubby plum bat clutching a gold coin. Pricier subscriptions are bigger bats. Go over your monthly subscription goal and the whole swarm glows red. Cancel one and its bat flies away.

The Academy

Eleven lesson bosses.

Each Academy lesson is a short fight against a creature from the game. Learn the idea, find the boss's weakness, answer the check. Each first win pays 20 or 30 Valor.
